Time Out

GREG is standing on a bare stage – JOHN approaches from a short distance. They are in suits and speak in a restrained, propper English mannor.

John: Excuse me sir, do you have the time?

Greg: I do.

John: What is it?

Greg: It's a measuring system based on the rotation of the Earth on its axis.

John: No, what is the time now?

Greg: ... It's still a measuring system based on the rotation of the Earth on its axis.

John: At this moment – this second – what is the time?

Greg: Are you expecting it to change?

John: Time always changes.

Greg: Are you Bob Dylan?

John: No, please, just – Do you have a watch?

Greg: Of course.

John: What does it say?

Greg: It can't talk.

John: Look at it's face for me, and read what you see.

Greg: It's upset.

John: How can a watch seem upset?

Greg: It's covering its face with its hands.

John: (sigh) What time does it represen-

Greg: All time.

John: What do you mean all time?

Greg: The hands just keep whirring around.

John: Is it running fast?

Greg: No, it's staying on my wrist.

John: UGH!

Greg: UGH!

John: AAAHHH!

Greg: AAAHHH!

John: GAAAAAHHH!

Greg: GAAAAAHHH!

*beat*

John: Kiss me

Greg: I thought you'd never ask

(Powerful Embrace)
