Someone gets arrested for breaking the law, at which point he/she protests "That's not a law, it's only a theory!"

Whether it's a scientific law or an actual law being broken depends on which way the idea goes. I like the idea of laws against murder just being theories, though.

lights up. The scene is a courtroom there is the JUDGE, the DEFENDANT who is in the witness box the DEFENDANT'S LAWYER who is currently speaking. There is also a PLAINTIFF  and the PLAINTIFF'S LAWYER.

JUDGE: Counsel, you may now examine the witness.
DL: Your honour, I intend to prove that my client did not murder Ms Cottleson's  husband.
JUDGE: proceed
